Abella & Corus 2

Chapter One

Corus sat on the edge of the bed, looking down at his beautiful mate. She slept so soundly, her breathing soft. He leaned down, letting his lips brush over hers and smiled when she stirred. “Good morning, Abella.” He said softly as her eyes focused on him.

“Corus? What time is it?”

“Ten.”

“You let me sleep in.”

“Of course I did.” He trailed his fingers through her hair, reveling in how soft it was. It went from blonde to pink and was longer than it had been. “How are you feeling today?”

“Fine, sorry I woke you up last night.”

“No apologies.” He pressed another kiss to her lips. “I have a surprise for you.”

“A surprise?”

“A trip to another world, somewhere beautiful to take your mind off your nightmares.”

“That sounds fun.” She sat up and yawned. “When are we leaving?”

“After breakfast if that’s okay.”

“That sounds perfect” she said as she hugged him “I just want you happy my love” Corus said gently, finding comfort as he always did in how holding her made him feel. When she pulled back he took another moment to take in her beautiful blue eyes. She had made so much progress now that she was talking about what happened to her. She no longer wore contacts to change her eyes, she no longer dyed her hair or did anything else because she hated looking at herself. Though Abella still struggled with nightmares he had helped her love herself again and stop blaming herself for the rape she suffered through. He wished every rape victim knew it wasn’t their fault but he was especially relieved he had brought his mate this far.

She smiled, almost like she wanted to laugh and he realized he had been staring much longer than he intended “I’ve already made breakfast so you just worry about getting dressed and come on down to the table” he gave her a long kiss on the forehead then walked out of the room. Abella quickly picked something out since he had already went through the work of making breakfast. She didn’t want whatever he had prepared getting cold. When she came down he was standing by her chair with a happy grin on his face and she realized just how much effort he had put into breakfast for her since she had had another bad night.

He had waited there, just waiting for her to see because he needed to see a happy expression on her face after witnessing so much sorrow from her the night before. Laid out she saw apple cheddar biscuits, baked eggvocado, carrot cake waffles and as if that all wasn’t enough he had made them each some breakfast enchiladas aswell. “How long have you been up” she asked, her voice portraying how touched she was. “I can never sleep well after you’ve had a hard night and I really needed to make you happy”

She ran into his arms, hugging him again “I love you so much Corus”

“I love you too baby, now eat for me.” He gave her a quick kiss then let her go so he could pull her chair out for her. Once he had her pushed in he sat down across from her and waited until she had taken a bite of her food before starting himself.

“Everything you cook is always so delicious.”

“That’s because there’s a lot of love in it.”

“I think you’re just talented at everything.”

Corus chuckled. “Perhaps it’s genetics. My cousin Aurel is an incredibly talented man, a very fast learner.”

“Is he anything like you?”

“We have some similarities, though I haven’t seen him in a long time so that may have changed. When you’re comfortable enough, perhaps we will go and visit him. I hear he’s married and has children.”

“Maybe after this trip. I mean if he’s related to you then he can’t be bad. I know demons aren’t always the nicest, but if you trust him then so do I.”

“good, I’ve missed him so I’ll try to get in contact once we’re done with what I have planned.”

“Have you heard anything about his wife?”

“she was incredibly shy when they first got together but he’s brought her out of her shell. She comes from a pretty impressive family too, the Aponte’s. I know you wont know them but they are an incredibly good family of demons”

“really?”

“yes, Chthon and his wife Ruth have had many children and they all have good hearts. Their children have had children and so on creating quite a few good demons out there.”

“that’s amazing”

“You can think of him as the king of demons. Even the most powerful fear his wrath should they do anything wrong.”

“Even your cousin?”

“He’s the exception. Aurel is incredibly powerful and his temperament doesn’t seem to allow him to be intimidated.”

“Sounds like you.” Abella teased.

“I’ll take that as a compliment my love.”

They finished breakfast and put the leftovers in containers to take with them, then washed dishes and started packing. Corus made sure she packed appropriate clothes for the type of weather they would be encountering and also grabbed a book to read to her on nights she couldn’t fall asleep. She looked genuinely excited about going somewhere new and he couldn’t help but admire her beautiful smile and how her eyes seemed to light up. A blush suddenly tinted her cheeks and he leaned over to press a kiss to her warm skin. “You’re so incredibly beautiful, I can’t help myself.” He said.

“I just know it’s going to be amazing. That’s why I’m so excited..you’re always so good to me”

“You deserve it….you suffered so long…I want the rest of your life to be a dream” she hugged him “can we go now?” he kissed her again “of course we can beautiful”He had made something to take them so they only had to get it out of their basement “I didn’t want you to have to travel. I just wanted to head straight there. Don’t worry, I made sure it’s safe” She took his hand “I trust you implicitly, lets go” She barely felt a thing which surprised her. It almost took a second for her to register they had actually gone anywhere “you okay?” he asked and she said “thats the easiest travel like that has ever been”

“I worked hard on that thing so I’m glad to hear it”

Abella looked around. “Are we in a basement?”

Corus nodded. “Of an abandoned cottage. It’s the other side of the doorway.”

“Wow, that’s amazing.”

“There’s more outside.” He guided her upstairs and through the old building, stopping at the front door. “Close your eyes.”

“Okay.” She let her eyelids fall closed and he pressed a reassuring kiss to her cheek.

“You know I would never lead you somewhere dangerous. Take a breath my love.” She nodded and he opened the door then guided her out. “Alright, open them.”

Abella gasped. It was like stepping into a world of bright pastels, everything was so vivid like a fairy tail. “Corus, this is beautiful.”

His smile was warm, his eyes almost sparkling with joyfulness “I knew you’d be happy”

“where can we go here?”

“anywhere, I’ll keep you safe but we shouldn’t have any trouble here in general” she excitedly began exploring, doing her best to take every inch of this place in. Corus was just hapy watching her. She was so wholly into every single thing. Her reaction to this place was even better than what he thought it would be. He had assumed with the bright shade of pink she had chosen for her hair she’d like this place but he wasn’t sure he had seen her happier than this before.

“What are those?” Abella asked, her eyes wide as she pointed at four fluffy pink creatures hopping through the grass.

“Rabbits.”

“Those are not rabbits. Look at them, they’re pink and they have little horns.” She dropped down on her knees near them. Up close she could see they were rabbits, larger than most, fluffy like cotton candy with a cute little horn in the middle of their heads.

“They’re a special kind of rabbit. Want to hold one?”

“Can I really?”

“Of course.” Corus walked over and scooped one up then turned and handed it to her. It didn’t even fight, it just looked up at her, curiously twitching its nose.

“It’s so cute.”

“Perhaps you want one as a pet?”

“I couldn’t take it from its friends.” She let it go and it hopped away.

“Then we’ll find a breeder. They can be any color you wish.” He held out his hand and she took it, allowing him to pull her to her feet. “There is much more I wish to show you before the day is done.”

“You’re so sweet.”

“For you, always. You deserve it.” He kissed her forehead and then her lips, causing her to blush. “You’re so beautiful, especially when you’re all red.”

It took her a second but when she spoke Abella asked “what else do you want to show me” He smiled and gently tugged her along so they could start walking on. Today he would show her the beauty of this place then tomorrow, if they didn’t stumble upon one today he would start trying to find a breeder so she could have one of those rabbits. They walked at a slow pace since they weren’t in any hurry at all. They had no appointments to return home to so they could stay as long as they wanted. Abella would also stop every now and then to look closer at something, all the while Corus keeping a close eye to be sure she didn’t mess with something that would hurt her.

“It’s like being lost in a fairy tale.” Abella said as she bent to smell a cluster of red flowers. “I feel like at any moment I might wake up.”

“I assure you it’s very real.” He laced their fingers together and brought her hand to his lips. “Even if you did wake up, you’d be with me.”

She smiled. “That’s true.”

“Come on, I want to show you something even more amazing.” He pulled her further into the forest to a set of very tall trees. He lifted her into his arms and she held tightly to him as they flew into the air. She knew she should be used to it by now, but it was still so surprising when his feet were suddenly not on the ground. He took her up through the canopy and touched down on one of the branches.

“Corus, this is…I’ve never seen anything like this.” The view was spectacular. The world’s beautiful, bright colors spread out before her like a rainbow sea and she could see in the distance the glint of water as the sun shined on a lake. She took his face in her hands and pressed a kiss to his lips, surprising him. “Thank you so much.”

“it’s been amazing having you in my life. I will always be grateful to your father for asking me to help you” emotionally she pointed out “all the best things I ever got in my life were from my dad. I wish I had talked to at least him after what happened to me”

“few people are able to make the proper choices when they’ve been hurt like you were. Rape mentally takes a high toll, he understood, once he knew he understood everything” she just hugged him, grateful he always tried to make her feel better. While she knew she could never go back and change past choices she’d always be embarrassed she hadn’t reached out, instead choosing to turn to drugs and alter herself. Drugs had been such a terrible, terrible choice and she was glad she hadn’t been on them long enough to have lasting damage.

Chapter Two

They sat there together until her stomach growled and he chuckled at her embarrassed expression. He pressed a kiss to her forehead then jumped out of the tree, holding her close as they fell and slowing their descent as they drew closer to the ground. “Where to now?” She asked.

“First let’s eat and then I want to take you to the place I picked out for us to stay.” He sat with her in the grass and pulled the leftovers out of their pack. Abella ate quickly, too excited to go slow. She wanted to see everything this world had to offer.

“So what kind of place is it?”

“That’s a surprise, but I promise you’ll love it. It’s very tranquil, it’ll just be us.” He said as he gently stroked her cheek.

Her heart gave a little stutter. She hated she was suddenly so nervous. It was almost always them alone at home. Her family visited, but for the most part they were always alone. “Oh, I…I see.”

Corus could feel her sudden apprehension and gently grabbed her chin so she looked at him. “Tell me what you’re thinking.”

“Nothing really, it’s just since we’re going to be alone, really alone, well…”

Realization dawned on him. “It means I want you to relax and enjoy your time here, that I want to see you laugh and smile. Nothing more, I promise.”

“But I know it’s been awhile…I mean…i”

“Abella, I’m happy, incredibly so. I don’t need to have sex with you to be happy with you. I don’t feel like I’m missing out or any other negative thing you might be thinking I feel. I’m okay, even if you never end up wanting to have sex with me I will never be unhappy with you.”

“I’m just so happy and don’t want to lose you because I can’t be with you that way”

“sex isn’t a need, as much as some think it is if you need to have sex to want to be with your partner you don’t love them. I love you, my heart and soul belong to you Abella” she hugged him and he gently held her.

Abella always felt so safe and secure with him and like she was the most beautiful woman in the world. She didn’t know what she had ever done to deserve someone as gentle and understanding as him. She had never seen him lose his temper, at least not around her, and he had the patience of a saint. “You really make me feel like I can do anything.”

“You can, it may take you longer than most, but with time you can do anything you put your mind to.” He lifted her and she rested her head on his shoulder, relaxing completely into him. He wished she knew how far she had truly come. The way she was able to relax completely into him, the way she trusted him completely to take care of her, was something to be proud of. “You’re strong, Abella, I hope you know that.”

“I do, thank you for reminding me.”

The journey to their destination was calming, full of many beautiful animals and plants that Abella could have only dreamed of before. The warmth of the day lulled her to sleep and Corus brushed a kiss to the top of her head, slowing down so he wouldn’t wake her. He let her sleep even when they arrived at the cave, taking her past the large hot spring to the small house that had been carved into the stone. It had been there for a long time and he had visited it enough times to know that it was no longer owned. He had set up spells near the entrance to ensure no one could enter without his permission and now that he had Abella, he would double them to ensure she felt comfortable here.

Corus was relieved when he was able to tuck her into the bed without waking Abella. Now he could go ahead and work on those spells while she caught up on rest. She had truly come so far and he couldn’t risk something terrible coming along and setting her back. When Corus was done making the home secure he crawled into bed with Abella, planning to hold her and maybe nap if his body decided it could. He sighed in contentment once he had Abella in his arms. Even something as simple as this was heaven to him when it came to her. Her scent was so sweet, her skin soft and warm. He couldn’t wait for her to see this place. He hoped she would love it as much as he did.

Abella woke to darkness and her heart gave a leap as she tried setting up. It woke Corus who pulled her into him and brushed a kiss to her forehead. “It’s okay. We’re here, you fell asleep.”

“Sorry, it’s just so dark. I thought…I don’t know what I thought.”

“Stay here.” He got up and quickly lit the oil lamp sitting on top of the chest of drawers. “Better?”

“Yeah. There’s no electricity.”

“Not every world has it. Some do, but not all and there’s no need for it here.” He held out his hand and she stood, taking it and letting him pull her out of the room and into the rest of the house where he lit more lamps. The muted light was very calming and Abella found herself relaxing.

“This place is gorgeous.”

“It’s been here for awhile. Would you like to soak in the hot spring while I make you a late dinner?”

She looked out the window. It was inky black out there. “It’s kind of dark.”

He chuckled. “This is the best part.” He guided her to the front porch then had her wait while he disappeared into the darkness. Light soon blossomed as he lit torches set around the pool of water. It brought the cave to life as light bounced off of crystals embedded in the stone. “There we go, nice and bright.”

“Wow.” She couldn’t find a better word to truly describe how beautiful this place was. She had never seen anything like it.

He pulled her into his arms and pressed a gentle kiss to her lips. “Happy?”

“Yes, very. Thank you so much.”

“Go ahead and get in, I’ll call you when dinner’s ready.”

“You’re not coming with me?” She asked, a blush tinting her cheeks, her heart dancing in her chest. She hadn’t meant to just blurt it out. She didn’t even know why the thought had occurred to her to ask.

“I’d love to but I assumed you would go in naked. I wasn’t sure if you’d be okay with me there. I mean, we could both swim in our underwear but you’ve never even been that naked with me” Her cheeks grew a little darker and he could hear her heart stuttering “Abella, I’ll do whatever you want. There’s no wrong answer”

“Maybe our underwear?”

“Okay, but if you change your mind all you have to do is tell me to go back inside and I’ll make dinner like I had planned to” she nodded, still looking nervous. He took her hands in his, kissing her head again before tugging her outside. They stripped down to their underwear then slid into the water together. Corus was worried about being too close so he sat with enough space between them another person could fit. She was trying and he didn’t want to do anything to make her regret it.

“Y…you don’t have to keep your distance. We do sleep together.”

“With clothes on. I didn’t want to assume.”

Abella scooted closer, keeping her eyes on the water. He slowly slid his arm over her shoulders, paying attention to every breath and heartbeat in case she became uncomfortable. “I want you close, I’m just nervous. You would think after the time we’ve spent together I wouldn’t be.”

“Abella, it’s understandable. If you ever need space, don’t be afraid to tell me, I won’t get angry.”

“I know, but I love you and we should be able to do more than just cuddle.”

He couldn’t help but chuckle at how serious she sounded. There was even a bit of annoyance in her tone that he found absolutely adorable. He pressed a kiss to her temple. “Just being in the same room as you makes me happy. It’s like having a bright beautiful light floating around.”

“Really?”

“Yes, just your presence brings me such joy and peace, it’s hard to describe.” He gently tipped her head up so she was looking in his eyes. “You’re so perfect.” He pressed a gentle kiss to her lips. “And if you should ever decide you want to do more and you are absolutely sure, then I will gladly do anything you want. You are always in control.”

“Maybe we could try here eventually…I mean, it’s really romantic” She blushed, almost instantly feeling bad for saying it. What if she got his hopes up and couldn’t? He was so good to her and she didn’t feel like that was very fair so she decided she would try her hardest to now that she had said that out loud. Corus kissed her head again, lingering a bit before saying gently “alright, like I said, just let me know” The rest of their time in the hot springs was mostly quite as they enjoyed the soothing, enveloping heat from the water. They only got out when they were both getting too hungry to enjoy the water any longer.

Corus dried them both then gathered their dirty clothes, following Abella inside to put clean ones on. Once dressed he asked “are you so quite because the water was comforting or are you worrying about trying to be with me sexually”

“a little of both” she answered honestly.

“Abella, nothing happens without your permission. I know it’s overwhelming for you, but I would never take more than you are willing to give.” He took her hand and brought it to his lips. “I’ll stop when you tell me to, no matter what.”

“I know, I’m sorry. It’s just when he…it was painful and…”

“Hush now love, you don’t have to explain. When you’re ready, we’ll go slow, I promise.”

“Okay.”

He gently pulled her into the living room and over to the couch. “Why don’t you relax here while I cook you something.”

“I can help.”

“Let me spoil you.”

“You better be careful or I might get used to it.”

He smiled. “Good.”

She watched him walk away, feeling some of the nervousness go away as feelings of happiness settled within her. He was so sweet, had the best heart of anybody she had ever met and she couldn’t believe he was his or the fact he truly was so happy with her. Her eyes started to travel where they were, finally really looking at everything. It was so beautiful and the use of fire instead of artificial lights only added to how nice it was to be here. She knew if she was here long term she’d probably miss the convenience of electricity but for short bursts of time something like this was amazing. It seemed this place had been made with great care. She had never built anything in her life but it just looked like the person who originally made this had taken great time, being patient so it would come out perfectly.

The smell of food soon filled the house, accompanied by Corus’s soft humming that further helped sooth Abella. She sat there, have an internal discussion with herself about why she shouldn’t be so worried all the time. Corus had taken care of the man who had hurt her, he was in prison still and could never hurt another person with the curse Corus had put on him. She was much stronger than she had been and loved herself, even finding beauty in the tattoos she had covered herself with. She didn’t have to wear a mask anymore and her brother and his husband supported her no matter what. Corus had brought her family back together and acted like it had been nothing to do so. She wanted to be more like him and approach life with ease instead of fear. He even helped her work through her nightmares, approaching them with compassion and logic when she couldn’t even think. She sighed.

“You’re thinking awful hard.” His voice startled her out of her musings and a blush tinted her cheeks when she realized he had been watching her.

“I thought you were cooking?”

“I am, it needs to simmer.”

“Oh.”

He smiled as he sat down next to her and pulled her into his arms. “What’s on your mind?”

“Everything.”

“What kind of everything?”

“Just everything, all of the things that have happened up until now.”

“Nothing bad then?”

“No, just daydreaming I guess.”

“How cute. You looked so serious.” He pressed a finger between her eyebrows, smoothing out the wrinkles there. “Really serious, your face might get stuck that way if you’re not careful.”

“That can’t happen.”

“You never know.” He kissed her forehead then got up. “Dinner’s nearly ready.”

‘It smells incredible, let me come help set the table. I know you want to spoil me but I may aswell do something”

“How about you just come talk to me in there”

“stubborn man” He chuckled “Only because I love you so much. You’d never let me spoil you if I wasn’t a little insistent about it” She got up aswell, moving to hug him. He held her, his smile widening. “I’m so lucky to have you…thank you for everything you’ve done for my family and I”

“Thank me by just enjoying all of this okay” they walked into the kitchen together where she took a seat at the table.

“Everything you cook is always so perfect.” Abella said as she took another bite of the mouthwatering food. “How do you do it?”

“Years of practice. When one lives alone they tend to pick up a few things here and there. My cousin is the same, reading all the time, learning skills that regular people might not even see as relevant. Honestly though, it was all so repetitive until I met you. I didn’t think all the things I had learned would actually be put to use.”

She blushed. “I doubt that, I mean I can’t have been the first woman you cooked for.”

“You were the first one that mattered, that gave it any meaning.”

“You’re far too sweet, Corus.”

“I’m at my sweetest with you. You so easily tame that darkness in me.” He gave her a quick kiss. “Finish your food for me.”

“And after…um well if you want…I mean we could try to…” He cocked his head to the side and her blush worsened. “You know what I mean, you’re just teasing me.”

He chuckled. “I’m sorry, it’s just your face when you’re embarrassed is incredibly cute.”

“So, can we? I mean we don’t have to go all the way right? So we could just see…” Her heart was beating so hard that Corus was sure her chest must hurt.

“Abella, calm down love. We’ll do whatever you wish, but I want you to be absolutely sure. Just the thought seems to cause you distress.”

“It’s just nerves, I promise.”

He gently stroked her hair and let his finger rub over her neck. “Alright, but eat first.” He couldn’t tell her that the idea excited him, he didn’t want to frighten her so he did his best to hide it, giving her comfort instead as he ate.

When they were done they went ahead and cleaned the dish’s to give her more time before they tried. When it was all put away there was nothing left to buy time so he asked gently “are you sure?”

“yeah, I really want to” he lifted her into his arms, carrying her back to the room and setting her on her feet just beside the bed. He was a mixture of excited and nervous. He wanted to do so much with her physically but he was scared of upsetting her. She swallowed down her own anxiety and immedietly removed what little she had been wearing, looking into his eyes with hope. He told her all the time she was beautiful but now she was naked in front of him and she hoped he still thought so.

Corus’s breath caught in his throat as he took in her every curve. He slowly reached out to touch her, hoping she wouldn’t flinch away since she was so exposed. It would crush his heart for her to recoil in fear. When his finger tips made contact she didn’t move, she just let him gently slide his hands over her. He wanted to feel her breasts but he avoided them, still weary of doing too much.

“are you going to get naked too?” she asked and his eyes met hers ‘are you sure you want that already? I..I just want you to feel safe and I imagine having something on me helps”

“I want you to be naked too”

“Tell me if that changes and I’ll get dressed right away.” She nodded shyly and he pulled his clothes off and tossed them aside. Her hands covered her face in embarrassment and he chuckled as he gently pulled them away and pressed a kiss to her knuckles. “You’re so cute.”

“It’s just you’re so…”

“Beautiful?”

“Yeah. Can I say that?”

“Of course, but I pale in comparison to you.” He took her face in his hands and pressed a soft kiss to her lips. “You’re so beautiful, like a goddess.”

“I’m not.”

“You are.” His lips moved over her chin and he slid his fingers into her hair, gently tugging back so she tipped her head back and he could brush feather light kisses to her neck. She let out a little sigh, her eyes fluttering closed at how good it felt to be touched and kissed by him.

He soon was kissing across her shoulders, Abella loosening up and enjoying it more and more with every contact. He was finally brave enough to move his hands to her chest, gently feeling her breasts. She moaned and he smiled, unable to resist pressing his lips into hers “are you still okay?” he whispered and she answered “Yes…I like this”

“I love you Abella”

“I love you too”

“can we get on the bed together?”

“yeah” he lifted her up and gently laid her down on the bed “what can I do?” he asked and she nervously said “anything is okay…I’ll tell you to stop if I don’t like it” He kissed her again then made sure “truly?”

“yes” He was still mindful of what he was doing but he let himself just enjoy her, her little moans, her softness, her every little movement in reaction to him. When he had gotten her wet enough he asked “Can I slide myself in you? I’ll lay down so you can ride me. That way you can truly stop the second you want to”

“mhm” Corus sighed with relief and happiness as he laid down and brought her up on him. He waited patiently for her to get comfortable and slide him in. He moaned, gently gripping her hips when he was all the way inside her. His pace was gentle, still careful since this was the first time she had let him be with her this way. Abella loved it, amazed at how different this time was. She had been so terrified last time non of it had truly felt good. On top of that Corus was so gentle and loving when that man she had met from the internet had been so rough, hurting her constantly throughout. This was amazing and it caused her to struggle not to cry. She knew if she cried Corus would think he had done something wrong.

When he came he slid out then just cuddled with her “how’re you feeling?” he had to ask, still filled with worry “that was incredible” she said softly and he smiled “I’m so happy to hear that”

“we can now…whenever you want” he kissed her forehead “thank you Abella”

“thank you for waiting so long”

“I meant it, I could have gone without it forever for you” she kissed him “I know, you’re such an incredible man”

“and you’re an incredible woman, the best mate I could have ever wished for”
