Freya & Edmond 2

Chapter One

He swung at Freya and she blocked, pushing his arm away. He swung again and she ducked, coming up inside his guard and punching him in the cheek. He spun and fell, holding his face. “Holy crap Freya, you’re so fast.” He said and she held out her hand.

“You have to learn not to put your guard down Mark.” He grasped her hand and she pulled him to his feet. “Just because we’re immortal doesn’t mean we can’t be damaged.”

“I know, I know. It’s just really hard getting used to. I realize I can do incredible things, but I hesitate. I’m not used to superhuman speed and strength. Yesterday I ripped a door off it’s hinges.” He frowned and she slapped him on the back.

“You’ll get used to it, just keep practicing and learn to control your abilities. God forbid you kiss a pretty girl to hard.” He blushed and she laughed. She put him in a headlock and pulled him into her and Edmond’s new house. “Thirsty?” She asked and let him go when she got to the kitchen.

“Hell yes.” He smiled and she opened the refrigerator, pulling out two bottles of blood and tossing one to him. He twisted off the cap and seemed genuinely happy when he didn’t rip the bottle in half.

“See, practice.” She sipped the blood and checked her watch. “Shit, I didn’t realize it was almost morning. Edmond should be home soon.”

“Have you told him yet?” Mark finished what was in his bottled and tossed it in the garbage.

“No and if he knew I told you we were expecting before him he’d feed you to a pack of rabid werewolves. Besides we’ve been so busy. Some people in Hawaii called us and asked if we’d fly over tomorrow to investigate some kidnappings. No one’s been murdered, but they were all women, all raped. They described a hairy beast. One of the victims wound up pregnant so we think it’s a werewolf trying to propagate the species.”

“Damn, how screwed up. Can I come and help?”

“I don’t see why not, an extra pair of eyes and hands is always good. Plus, it’ll be a learning experience.” She heard the front door open and close and a big smile crossed her face. He was home.

She ran for the door and jumped into his arms. He smiled and hugged her. ‘I’m glad to be home. You ready for tomorrow?”

“Yep, can Mark come too?”

“I don’t mind.” He set her down and got a drink himself. “I’m really tired. I want to get to bed early today.”

“Alright how soon?”

“Now?” she laughed “Ok come on, we’ll see you tonight Mark.” They went to their room and Mark decided to practice some more. He didn’t want to embarrass himself infront of Edmond. He wasn’t as nice about things as Freya. When they got to their room he sat down on the bed. She went to walk by to get somthing across the room but he grabbed her and pulled her down. Freya was fast but not nearly as fast as Edmond. She laughed “You couldn’t wait for me?”

“No, I don’t get any time with you since we’re always busy. There’s not an end in sight either. I finally get you back and we’re always having to do somthing.” His voice sounded annoyed. “I’m sure we’ll have more time after Hawaii.” She decided it was best to wait until after the Hawaii trip was done to tell him about the baby so he wouldn’t have that on his mind too.

“After Hawaii someone will probably call from Russia. I am seriously thinking of telling everyone I’m retiring.” He lay back, his arm covering his eyes.

She straddled him, her fingers slipping the buttons of his shirt out of the holes. “You know,” she said as she pushed his shirt open, “I seem to remember that you are very ticklish.”

“Don’t even think about it.”

“Or what?” She tickled his ribs and he writhed, his hands grabbing at hers. She wrestled with him, going after his ribs and armpits. He laughed, trying to roll her off. She wouldn’t budge. He sat up, pinning her arms behind her back and kissing her. “I guess I made someone happy.” She rubbed her nose against his.

“I want you and a shower before the sun is up.”

She took off to the bathroom, pulling off her sports bra and tossing it back at him. She heard him get up and managed to get her shoes and socks off before he grabbed her. He pulled off her shorts and panties and lifted her onto the bathroom counter. His lips were against hers, rough and demanding. She head him unzip his pants and an excited shiver ran through her. He pulled her to the edge of the counter, tipping her hips forward and thrusting into her. He kissed his way to her shoulder, his fangs sinking into her skin. She dug her nails into his back, her loud cries filling the bathroom.

When they were done, they just held each other for a moment and caught their breath. Edmond lowered her to the floor and grinned when he saw her legs were a bit wobbly. “You better get that smug look off your face.” She tried for serious, but couldn’t help but smile. They showered quickly and jumped in bed as the sun found its way over the horizon. They were both drained and fell asleep instantly.

Mark stayed up until almost lunch time practicing. He finally had to lay down. He knew Freya would help him more anyway when she was up again. Freya woke up with Edmonds arm across her. She tried to get up without waking him but it didn’t work and he held her down “Don’t leave me just yet. I have more stuff to do before we leave and I just want a little bit of time with you before we’re both busy looking for that werewolf.” Really she felt like throwing up. This baby had made her have really bad morning sickness.

She couldn’t say that though so she just hoped it would pass. Edmond looked over at Freya. “You look the most beautiful when you first wake up. I hate when I get up and youre not there.” She just smiled not saying anything since she was concentrating on not running to the bathroom. He noticed she seemed a bit off and said “Are you ok Freya?”

“Yeah, Why?”

“I don’t know you’ve just seemed different. I haven’t done anything wrong have I?” His voice a bit concerned. She laughed and rubbed his cheek with her hand “No, I would’ve said somthing” He placed his hand on hers then kissed it.

Freya managed to breathe through the nausea as she and Edmond talked. He looked so irritated that they had to get up and start packing. She reminded him to get Mark a last minute ticket and he just frowned. “You know I have to keep him close until he learns. You did the same with me.” She said.

“I certainly hope you’re not keeping him that close.” He got such a dark look on his face and she actually laughed.

“My goodness we’re jealous aren’t we?”

“Sorry, I don’t know what it is. I’ve been feeling so overprotective. It’s like some animal instinct has taken over.”

“Are you sure you’re not a wolf?” She teased.

“I do howl sometimes, but I think that has more to do with you than the full moon.”

They got out of bed and dressed. The sun was at its highest and really sapping the energy out of her. Edmond disappeared, going to his study and she pulled their suitcase out of the closet and started packing. She had no idea how long they’d be gone so she packed a weeks worth of clothes for both of them. She threw in a bikini and swim trunks, thinking maybe they’d have time for a swim at some point. She zipped the suitcase closed and carried it downstairs, sitting it next to the door. She ran back upstairs to Mark’s room. She could hear him snoring and banged on the door. “Up and at em’.” She yelled and she heard him slide out of bed. He opened the door, rubbing his eyes.

“I just got to sleep.” He said.

“Should have gone to sleep when we did. Get to packing.”

He started packing barely able to keep his eyes open. All the training he did himself and with Freya plus the lack of sleep was killing him. He managed to pack all his stuff and set it with theirs. “Where’s Edmound?”

“He’s gone, he had somthing to do before we leave.” Suddenly she threw up in the sink. “How on earth are you hiding that from Edmound?”

“Great skill, I almost threw up on him this morning when I accidently woke him up as I was getting up to run to the bathroom.”

“Are you sure you want to wait to tell him after the trip?”

“Yeah, he doesn’t need that on his mind while we’re tracking somthing dangerous.” Mark sighed praying Edmond didn’t find out he knew about the baby before he did. It’s why he was anxious for Freya just to let him know. He understood her reasoning though. She practiced with him some more until Edmond was finally back. “You two ready?” Edmond grabbed their bags and off they went to the airport.

Edmond held Freya’s hand as the plane took off. She looked paler than normal, dark circles under her eyes. He knew there was something wrong, but he was afraid to push the issue. For all he knew she had just overworked herself trying to prepare Mark for their world. Being a vampire was not easy even in this day and age. There were hunters, haters, and the sanguinarians who thought being a vampire was all about fangs and pale skin. They had no idea what it was like, the time and energy it took to assure people you weren’t going to make them your dinner. He glanced at her. She had beads of sweat on her forehead and a sour expression on her face. Maybe he would ask later, corner her and make her tell him the truth.

Freya rested her head on Edmond’s shoulder. She was sweating with the effort it took to hold her nausea at bay. She closed her eyes and rested her hand on her stomach, mentally asking the baby to give her more time. She felt Edmond’s thumb brush over her knuckles. He knew something was going on. She couldn’t tell him she was sick, vampires didn’t get sick. They were immuned to disease. She burst with wanting to tell him. It was hard to keep it in sometimes, but if she said anything he’d lock her up in a tower and not let her do her job. He’d most definitely take over training Mark and she didn’t think Mark would survive. Edmond was very aggressive when it came to that sort of thing. He would push until you could barely move or were throwing up. He had trained her, she knew. He was more mellow than he had been years ago, but she still refused to let him train Mark. She could hear the young man snoring lightly in the seat behind him. He still had a long way to go before he wasn’t absolutely dragging himself across the ground to get anywhere in the daytime.

She fell asleep on his shoulder. Fighting the nausea and the sun was too much. She worried this wasn’t going to work much longer as she drifted off. When the plane landing Mark came close to asking how the baby enjoyed the ride but stopped himself just in time. The only word that escaped his mouth was how. Edmond said “How what?”

“Um, uh how are we getting to where we are going?”

“A cab”

“Ok” he said nervously. He looked at Freya who knew he had almost said somthing he shouldn’t. She gave him a quick glare. She didn’t want Edmond to see the exchange of glances but he did. He didn’t say anything but was growing more worried about what could be going on. Mainly what was on his mind at this point was her leaving him again. Ever since he got her back that was all he worried about because he just couldn’t bare it a second time. He had almost gone crazy with grief when she left the first time.

They got two hotel rooms with balconies. Freya had only been to Hawaii once after she broke up with Edmond. She had spent most of her time crying and staring into space. She had not had time to just enjoy how beautiful it was. She stood on the balcony, looking out at the sea. It was so wild and untamed, a force of nature that no man could hold back. When night fell they would have to talk to the authorities and get to work so she just admired the sun as it began to fall, turning the sky shades of pink and orange. She closed her eyes, inhaling the fresh ocean air.

Edmond leaned against the balcony door, just watching her. A slight breeze tugged at her hair and whipped it into a wild, sexy mess. She looked so happy in that moment. He walked up behind her, his arms going around her waist and resting his chin on the top of her head. “You know I love you right?” He asked softly. He felt his heart beating fast and held his breath as he waited for her answer.

“Of course I do, I love you too.” She turned in his arms and wrapped her arms around his neck. “Don’t sound so sad.”

“Please tell me what’s wrong. You’ve been acting so strange and it terrifies me.”

She smiled. “You are never scared. Everything’s fine, I promise. Everything is perfect.”

“Hey love birds.” Mark was standing on his balcony. “You may not have noticed, but the sun is almost gone. I think we should get to work.”

Edmond glared at the young man and Mark actually took a step back. No one wanted to mess with Edmond. Freya was actually a little relieved. “Come on babe, he’s right.” She gave him a brief kiss and smiled. She hoped this would be over before the week was up.

As they were getting ready Edmond was frustrated the Mark had interupted them. Now he’d have to wait a long time to get another chance to get her to talk to him about whatever was going on. He hoped he’d be able to control his temper with Mark tonight after that. Freya would get upset with him if he was too harsh then another horrible thought entered his head. What if his Freya was wanting to leave him for Mark. He decided that was crazy and whatever it was they could work out. He just needed the chance to talk to her.

They met Mark at the cab which quickly took them to the police so they could make sure they had all the facts about what was going on and where each location was women were being attacked. Freya and Mark were listening intently but Edmond was distracted. It was going to bug him until he spoke to her. She noticed the pained look on his face and held his hand hoping it would cheer him up.

“How far into the jungle has he been taking them?” Mark asked.

“Every victim says it was pretty far in. They had to walk back on their own. The woman who wound up pregnant said it took her a day to find her way out.” The officer answered.

“Is there any way we could talk to her?” Freya asked. “She may remember something, a landmark or something she forgot in her panic.”

“I could give her a call and ask. Just give me a moment.”

They waited in silence. The tension in the room grew. Mark twiddled his thumbs and Edmond tried his best not to glare at him. Freya felt sick again. The officer returned and handed her a piece of paper with directions on it. “She said she’ll be waiting for you.”

“Thank you very much.” She said. The moment they got outside Edmond pulled her aside. He looked angry.

“Tell me what’s going on?” He asked. He was gripping her arm painfully hard and she didn’t think he noticed.

“I told you I’m fine, now let me go.” She snapped.

“Are you leaving me again is that it?”

She looked up at him shocked. Her palm was against his cheek before she could stop herself. The sound of the slap actually stopping a passerby in his tracks. Mark glared at the man and he kept going. “I’m pregnant you stupid son of a bitch.” She screamed and jerked her arm out of his hand. Edmond just stared at her and tried to pull her back and apologize. “Don’t touch me.” She backed away. “I’m walking to the victims house so just leave me alone.” She turned and left. He tried to go after her, but Mark stopped him. “Just let her go,” he said, “it’s better if you let her cool off.”

Chapter Two

They followed her staying far behind. Edmond was feeling sad, happy, and worried at the same time. He had lost his temper being foolish. If he hadn’t been so paranoid he might have realized she was pregnant. Mark walked beside him not saying a word. Mark was glad he knew now though. Most of his worries were over about him finding out he knew first. Mark was shocked at how angry Freya got at him.

He had never seen her slap him before but then again Edmond hadn’t done anything like that since they had been back together. Freya was walkign fast trying to calm down so she wouldn’t scare the girl when they spoke. When she arrived at the girls house she took a deep breath and went inside to speak with her. She really hoped they’d get more to go on from her.

The woman couldn’t have been older than twenty. She had this haunted look about her that broke Freya’s heart. “I’m Freya.” She held out her hand and the woman shook it.

“My name’s Shasta, I was told there were two men with you.” She said softly.

“They’ll be arriving soon I’m sure.” She sat down at the kitchen table with Shasta. She was a beautiful young woman with large dark eyes and jet black hair that fell to her shoulders. There was a knocking at the front door and Freya waved Shasta off when she started to stand. “I’ll get it.” She went to the door and pulled it open. Edmond and Mark stood there, one looking upset the other looking unsure. “Mark please come in. Edmond I think you’re a little too intimidating for a victim, just stay out here.” She said, grabbing Mark and pulling him in and shutting the door before Edmond could say a word.

“Are you sure that was a good idea?” Mark asked.

“Yes, he can mope outside. Now come meet Shasta.”

Mark followed her into the kitchen. He froze when he saw the beautiful young woman. She looked so sad, so nervous. He sat down and smiled at her. She must have seen his fangs because she looked away. “Don’t worry I’m a big teddy bear.” He said and her cheeks turned bright red. “Look how pretty you are.” A small smile flitted across her lips. “That’s better.”

Freya was shocked Mark was flirting. It wasn’t intentional, she could tell. He had never been a big flirt, never showed much interest in anything but becoming a good teacher. She cleared her throat and he looked down, a blush crawling up his neck. “Anyway, we wanted to talk to you about what happened in the jungle. I can only imagine how hard it must be, but I have to ask.” Freya said with an apologetic smile. “Do you remember anything at all, any specific landmarks or sounds?”

She looked deep in thought. Her face grew so sad and she started crying. Freya got up and hugged her. “Take your time. We’re not in a rush.” Edmond just watched from the window as Freya comforted the girl. He decided it might scare her worse and take longer for her to talk if she noticed him out the window so he sat down waiting. It hurt him even more when Freya slammed the door in his face. She was really angry and he had no idea what he was going to do to fix it.

Shasta quit crying and said “well I heard some owls and I think howling in the distance. The ground was kind of damp even though it hadn’t rained. It’s all a blur besides that I’m so sorry.”

“Don’t be sorry.” She wrote down Marks number and said “If you think of anything else please call Mark. You just relax for now ok? I’m sorry we had to ask.” Mark looked shocked she handed her his number. He hoped she would call. They got up and walked out. Freya looked at Edmond who couldn’t have possibly looked sadder.

“We should get back to the hotel. I need to get my hands on a map.” She said as they walked off the porch. They decided to walk. Edmond didn’t say a word, didn’t even look at her. She could tell he was ashamed and she couldn’t stay mad at him. She laced her fingers through his and he squeezed her hand. She felt eyes on her and looked around. Mark was staring at his feet, a grin on his face. She didn’t see or hear anyone else. She shook her head, telling herself it was paranoia.

Mark told them he was going to walk around a little bit longer. They had his cell number if they needed him. Edmond rode the elevator with Freya in strained silence. He didn’t know if he was forgiven or not. He had hurt her. He looked at her arm. There were no bruises now, but he was sure there had been. Once in the room she went to the desk that was against the wall. He watched her go through a bunch of brochures before grabbing one and opening it. There was a small tourist map stapled inside.

“Can we talk?” He asked and she held up her hand, her eyes moving over the map. “Freya please.”

“I have to find where she was, just give me a minute. It must have been marshy.” She grabbed a pen and circled a spot on the map. “Pouhala Marsh is probably where she was. Since I haven’t talked to the other victims I can’t say for sure that that’s where he took all of them, but I say tomorrow afternoon we see if Shasta feels up to going out there. She my recognize something.”

She looked at him and it seemed like he was about to break down in tears. “Ok we can talk now” She got up and went over to the bed where she sat down. He sat down beside her wanting to hold her but still didn’t know if she’d let him. “How long have you known you were pregnant?” He nervously asked. “Only about a month. I wanted to tell you after this trip but I guess I should’ve known it couldn’t wait.” She said with a hint of frustration which tore at him.

“I’m sorry i grabbed you like that. I really am. I just love you so much and I got really worked up because you’ve been acting so different. I also let my jealousy overwhelm me when it comes to how much time you spend with Mark.” His voice was breaking a bit.

“Well I think he’s going to be spedning a lot of time with Shasta. You shoud’ve seen him flirting. That’s why i gave her his number instead of mine.”

“Do you forgive me Freya?” She sighed “Yes, I know you try hard to control your temper. I can tell you’re really sorry”

He pulled her into his arms and buried his face in her hair. He was so relieved and happy he was shaking. “I’m so sorry. I promise it won’t happen again.” He pulled back and grabbed her face in his hands.

“It’s really okay. I love you. You just have to stop letting that part of you take over.” She said with a small smile. “I know it’s hard, I see you struggle with it every day.”

“You are so amazing, so beautiful and courageous.”

“Don’t forget tough and hot headed.” He opened his mouth and she cut him off. “I’m not stopping teaching or training so get it out of your head. I am not letting you train Mark. You’re far too aggressive for him.”

She knew him too well and he wasn’t going to argue right now. He had almost pushed her away again. If she wanted to teach then he’d let her. He hoped she knew his overprotective nature would only get worse and when she started to show she wasn’t going on anymore of these hunts. He lay back on the bed with her in his arms. He wasn’t going to lose his temper again, not with her. He also planned on apologizing to Mark later. He’d been jealous of an innocent bystander.

Outside the hotel stood a dark figure. He scented new prey. She was beautiful, too beautiful for that man. He would have her. He took off into the night, his devious mind forming a plan.

He held Freya close just taking in her sweet scent. She ended up falling asleep while he still held her. Her pretty face on his chest facing him. He decided to rest aswell so they could do some looking around that night. It was already around 4 so they really didn’t have a lot of time to rest. When Freya got up she darted straight for the bathroom. Glad she didn’t have to hide that any longer.

She rinsed her mouth out and walked out of the bathroom. Edmond was just sitting there smiling at her “You have no idea how hard that’s been to hide from you. I didn’t know if I was going to make it on the plane. You wake up too damn easy aswell.” She smiled at him hoping he felt better than during the day time. “Why don’t we leave Mark here and go do some looking around before we go get Shasta tomorrow? Hopefully we wont need to drag the poor girl back out there. She was so pitiful.”

“Alright” they each had a drink and left to explore the marsh areas Freya had cirlced. Mark just sat in his room staring at his phone hoping Shasta would call. She was so pretty and seemed sweet. He hated seeing her so sad. Maybe after everything was settled they could get to know eachother.

The marsh was cold and uncommonly quiet. It was strange, there should have been bugs buzzing. They searched the area, looking for paw prints. Freya knew there were plenty of feral dogs running around the island, but compared to werewolves their paws would be smaller. There would probably be handprints along with the paw prints. Werewolves usually took a half form when they shifted. Full wolf was saved for when humans were around, the same with their full human form. She wished she had a werewolf with her. She had a strong sense of smell, but a werewolf’s was stronger.

Edmond searched the ground along the edge of a body of water. He kept glancing behind him to make sure Freya was okay. She still looked overly pale and he made a mental note to get her some candied ginger. He went back to searching the mud, stopping when he saw a set of large paw prints. “Freya, come here.” He called and she ran over. “Looks like you were right. He’s been here.”

“If he’s been drinking and eating here his den can’t be far.” She said as she crouched down to study the prints closer.

“Do you think we’ll still need the girl?”

“Since I don’t know what direction his den is in I would say yes.”

“Too bad. I guess we’ll bring her and Mark back then.”

They started walking back. The wolf was there but far enough away they didn’t notice him. He had been completely still to make sure he didn’t catch their eye. He licked his teeth looking at Freya but he was smart enough not to attack her with him around. She’d be much harder to take than the human girls but he looked forward to the challenge. He almost didn’t have the self control to not attack her right then.

Freya felt his eyes on her again and turned around. She just stared into the woods and Edmond said “What’s wrong?”

“I just feel like someones looking at me.”

“Lets get you somthing for your stomach. You’re so pale and we can come back with Mark and Shasta when it’s daytime.” She really wanted to check it out but didn’t want to risk another fight with Edmond. She knew he’d be pretty docile with all his worry but still. “Ok, lets just go.”

“Can I carry you?”

“I’m not even showing yet. I’m fine.”

“Please.”

“Ugh, fine.” He lifted her happily and ran back to their room.

Mark had just dozed off when he heard knocking on his bedroom door. He got up and looked out the peep hole. It was Freya and Edmond. He sighed. “Oh shut up and open the door.” She said, making him jump. He unlocked and opened it. “Sorry, is something wrong?” He asked.

“No, just telling you we’re going out this afternoon. I need you to go to Shasta’s at about ten and ask her to come with us. Tell her it’s important, but it might make her uncomfortable.”

“More kidnapper stuff?” Freya nodded. “Alright, I can do that.”

“You look far to happy for someone who’s trying to catch a kidnapper.” Edmond said with an arched eyebrow and Freya elbowed him in the stomach.

“I’m going back to sleep. You two try not to wake me up. My headboard’s against the wall.” Freya blushed and Edmond laughed. She glared up at him and he started coughing to cover it up.

“Go to bed you twerp.” Freya punched his shoulder then walked next door. “See you in a few hours.” Edmond said and followed. Mark shut and locked his door then set an alarm on his phone before flopping down and going back to sleep.

Chapter Three

Edmond followed her into the room and hugged her. “I’m going to go get you somthing to make your stomach feel better. You should wait here and relax.” She smiled and said “Ok” Edmond was surprised she didn’t fight him but was happy she didn;t. He kissed her then left. She layed down glad he was going to get something for her. She wasn’t used to feeling bad since she had been a vampire so long. It made dealing with this a lot worse.

She wondered why she kept feeling sombody stare at her when nobody was ever around when all the sudden it was happening again. She bolted up to look out the window. She carefully examined outside looking for any signs of someone when she noticed a man. She tried to smell the air but he was too far away to get a scent. She started debating with herself if she should go down there and question him.

Freya knew she should wait for Edmond, but the man was creeping her out. Maybe it was someone with information who was afraid to approach her. She decided to go out. She scribbled a note for Edmond and left the room quietly. She took the elevator down and went outside. It was still dark out, but it would be light out in an hour. The man saw her and started walking quickly away. She yelled at him and followed. He didn’t stop, but went down an alleyway. She went in, her night vision allowing her to easily see. He was gone, vanishing into thin air. She was so confused. She turned around, coming face to face with a werewolf. One clawed hand hit her in the side of the head, cutting her face open and knocking her to the ground. She tried crab walking away, but he grabbed her ankle and yanked her back. He lifted her off the ground and slammed her into a wall. Her head swam.

When Edmond came back upstairs Freya was gone. He became worried, especially after he saw her note. She had gone to talk to someone, a man she thought had information. He got a weird feeling in the pit of his stomach. The sun would be up soon and she shouldn’t be out in a weakened state. He waited, giving her the benefit of the doubt. He didn’t want to start panicking and hunting her down when she obviously had not been gone that long. He would wait till sun up then wake Mark to see if he knew anything.

The sun came and no Freya so Edmond went to Marks room and started to pound on the door. He ran to answer “Did my alarm not go off?”

“Do you know where freya went?”

“No, is she in trouble?”

“I don’t know but we need to find her!”

“I need to get dressed.”

“I’ll go ahead and start looking. Come as soon as you’re ready.”

Edmond took off as fast as he could. He wondered why she’d leave without him especially when the sun was rising. He comforted himself with the fact that Freya was very strong. He had trained her himself and knew she could take care of herself. He still needed to hurry. Werewolves were very powerful and he had no idea just how strong this one was.

Edmond inhaled the early morning air, catching a whiff of her scent. He followed it for three blocks and into an alley. He knew right away something violent had happened here. He heard someone behind him and turned to see Mark skidding to a stop as he almost ran past the alley. Edmond went back to searching, his eyes moving over every inch of the alleyway. He spotted a small spot of blood on one of the walls. He wiped some off, recognizing the scent. “She was attacked here. I need you to get Shasta now and meet me at the marsh.” He said calmly even though his mind was screaming at him to hurry and find her.

Freya’s head felt like someone had smashed a hammer into it. She opened her eyes and found herself hanging by her wrists from the ceiling of a small shack. Dry blood matted in her hair and she was soaking wet. She looked around the dimly lit interior. There was a mattress on the floor of the room she was in. The windows were covered in thick grime. “You are very beautiful.” A deep voice said behind her.

“Who are you, what do you want with me?” She tried swinging herself around, but a hand gripped her hair.

“All I want is a mate, but none of them were good enough.” He whispered in her ear. He pressed his face into her neck and inhaled. She had to fight the urge to throw up.

“There is something odd about your smell.” He said and started sniffing her all over. When he got close to her face she bit him. He jerked back, gripping his cheek. He slapped her then punched her in the stomach.

She worried for her baby. She hoped the little one was ok. He started feeling her all over then removed her pants. She kicked him even though she knew there would be repercussions. “Don’t make me mark this tantalizing body of yours. One more step out of line and I’ll have to get rougher with you.”

Mark arrived at Shastas house and knocked on the door. She answered “Oh hi, Mark right?” He smiled glad she remembered his name “Yes, I’m so sorry to ask you this but Freya is missing. We really need your help to find her. We’d appreciate it so much and I promise I wont let anything happen to you.” She was scared to go out again but she agreed. She didn’t want Freya to get hurt like she did. “I’ll help you guys”

“Let me carry you on my back so we can go faster. If that’s not ok with you it’s fine.”

“No no it’s ok. We need to be quick.” He lowered himself so she could get on and he ran to Edmond. They then all went to the woods again. When they got there they went straight to the marsh. “Do you remember anything else after this point. Please think hard.”

“I remember running through the water. Town is that way so I came from the east.” She pointed to the right. “There was a room, a dark room.” She grabbed her head and Mark wrapped her in his arms.

“It’s okay, you did good.” Mark said.

“Take her back to town, I’m going to get my wife.” Edmond raced into the woods. Jumping into the trees and startling some birds. He moved quickly over the jungle, his heart beating out a fearful rhythm.

Freya screamed as he ripped her shirt off. He groped her and she kicked at him. He hit her in the face, but she refused to give in. He grabbed her hair, wrenching on it hard. “Stop fighting you bitch.” He growled. She spit in his face and he punched her again. He walked away from her and she was lowered to the floor. He grabbed her hair and dragged her to the mattress, throwing her down. She heard him unzip his jeans and she gripped the rope. She spun using what little strength she had left too whip it around his neck. She jerked hard and he flew over her and head first into the wall. She got her feet, moving as fast as she could. He grabbed the rope and started dragging her back. She screamed and the front door exploded inward.

It was Edmond. He saw his wife bloody and almost completely nude screaming. She looked up at him and saw the Edmond she hadn’t seen in a long time. A pure monster, no thought in him but to kill. He had gone from afraid to lost in rage. He flew at the werewolf and beat him beyond recognition. It just lay there on the floor in a bloody heap. His face horribly disfigured.

Freya was sitting on the floor fighting back tears and being ashamed she had let herself be caught by him. She expected him to be angry at her aswell. He had always been so hard on her when she failed before. This was the first time she failed the new Edmond. Edmond took off his shirt and put it on Freya then lifted her up. His shirt was really huge on her because of their height difference. He hugged her, a few tears dripping down his face.

She was expecting him to yell at her. “I’m sorry I left without you. You aren’t going to yell at me?” He looked at her and kissed her. “I’m not the asshole I used to be even though I hurt you earlier. I love you Freya and I was so worried about you.” It was hard to look at her as beat up as she was. Edmond could only imagine what all he’d done since she healed so fast. He took her to the hotel and set her down on the bed. He called Mark to tell him what all happend and to tell the police they caught their rapist.

Freya was so upset about what happend and still uneasy waiting for Edmond to lose his temper. He could see she was a little afraid of him and it broke his heart. He wondered if he really was that much of a monster. He got down on his knees in front of her and layed his head in her lap. “I’m so glad you’re safe Freya. Please don’t look so afraid of me. I promise I’m not going to yell.” She rubbed his head and kissed the back of his neck. He got up moving her up on the bed so he could lay with her.

He held her close giving her kisses all over her face and neck. “You really are different Edmond. Thank you for saving me and our baby. I love you and I’ll be more careful.”

“You better be. I need you in my life more than anything or anybody. You’re my life and without you I’d have nothing. I’ll never stop loving you and trying to be a better man for you. You deserve so much and I try to make sure you have as much as I can possibly give you. Thank you for coming back to me and being patient with me. I wish I deserved you freya.”

They layed in bed together and slowly drifted to sleep. They agreed this would be their last job for a long time. They were just going to enjoy being together for a few months and she’d quit going on these things all together until the baby was there.
