Elowen & Birch

Chapter One

Mei smiled back at little Tod as he buckled up in her backseat then drove away from the school “How was your day?”

“Great! Is mommy home yet?”

“Just two more nights” He just continued to smile as he began to look out the window so she put in one of his CD’s and put her attention back on the road. Mei was his live in nanny, had been since he was four and it was the best job she had ever taken. Tod was the sweetest boy anybody could ask for and his mother paid her far more than any other live in nannies she knew, especially when she took business trips. She had grown so fond of Tod over the past five years she’d probably even watch him for free at this point. She loved him like he was her own. The nice room, comfortable life and amazing income were just perks now. read more

Haidee & Autry

Chapter One

Haidee actually yelped when she fell back down this time “shit!” she cursed when she hit the ground, angrily picking up a rock and throwing it against the wall of dirt opposite her. She threw a few rocks, needing to release frustration about more than simply being stuck here. Her heart still ached at the loss of her fiance. She couldn’t move on, even four years later she wasn’t even close to moving on. Everyone told her he’d want her to be happy but she didn’t know how to be happy without Autry. The only way she could keep herself out of depression was thrill seeking and that might have now lead her to starving to death. Nothing lived down here and she wouldn’t for much longer having already been down here two days without anything to drink or eat and whatever bit her a few hours ago was obviously going to cause something. The place where it had sank its tiny teeth into was only looking worse with time. read more

Aulay & Fillian

Chapter One

Fillian pulled his jacket tighter around him as he trekked up the snowy mountain, his eyes watching the path ahead of him. Once there had been a set of stone steps here, but now the path was worn and weathered. He had seen it in his dreams, the winding staircase that lead up to the old castle and there he was waiting. The voice had called him time and time again, had beckoned him to find this place. He didn’t understand why, but he knew this place and he didn’t remember much. His first memory was of waking up on the edge of the woods, his head aching, blood caked in his hair and drying on the side of his face. He remembered stumbling into the closest village, remembered passing out in the doorway of a bar and then waking again to a doctor examining him. There had been a gap in his memory, a painful loss of something important. It wasn’t until that voice had found him, sounding far away at first, that he had felt he was close to his past. read more

Lyric and Shadow

~ Originally created by Breanna Vincent ~

Chapter One

I closed my eyes, feeling the morning dew on my face. I raised my arms above my head, caressing the soft silky petals of the lily I was nesting in. It was such a beautiful day. I stretched out my gossamer wings as far as I could, inching them to the sky with every breath. They had grown recently, I was so excited! I couldn’t wait to show Shadow when he returned from this voyage. He had flown with Papa to gather food for the families. Oh how I loved spring, it was my favorite season. Full of new life and promises of glorious adventures. I wonder what we will get into this summer, Shadow and I always had at least one momentous exploration. They held tales of danger and excitement, it’s a miracle we didn’t get into more trouble than we do. Papa always scolded us for going so close to the humans. Silly Papa, they weren’t all forceful and savages. Some of them were delicate and gentle like us. I didn’t fear them as I should but stood in awe whenever I thought of them. They were such magnificent creatures but rarely ever used their powers. I wondered why. I pushed off of my lily and sprung into the air, as light as a feather. The light hum of my wings started the day of with a wonderful tune. Every day was music to my ears. read more
